Country: Germany (Deutschland) State: Sachsen-Anhalt City: Dessau-Roßlau Location: Dessau, Muldstraße Built 1623 as a riding hall. 1794-1798 used as a theatre. 1922-1923 major rebuilding and conversion to a theatre by A. Linnebach, after the "Friedrich-Theater" (previously: "Hoftheater") had been destroyed by a fire in 1922. Re-opened 1 Feb 1923 as "Friedrich-Theater". Used for opera, drama, and ballet performances by the resident companies until the opening of the "Dessauer Theater" (today: "Anhaltisches Theater") in 1938. Destroyed by bombs on 7 Mar 1945; remains demolished in 1956. Link: Wikidata |
