Built 1856 as "Teatro Alarcón". Opened 1856 with Donizetti's "Lucia di Lammermoor". Later renamed in honour of the Mexican liberal patriot, General José Santos Degollado (1819-1861). Home to the "Orquesta Filarmónica de Jalisco", the "Ballet Folklórico de la Universidad de Guadalajara", and the "Ballet del H. Ayuntamiento de Guadalajara". Used for opera, ballet and drama performances, and classical concerts. 1015 seats.
