Country: Japan (Nippon) City: Kyoto First theatre on the site opened 1669 as "Miyako Mandayu-za" by Miyako Mandayu I. Regular changes of name in honour of the directors of the time. 1906 bought by Shochiku and renamed "Minamiza" after its position South (minami) of Shijo Bridge. 1913 renovations. Demolished ca. 1929. Used for Kabuki performances. [1929 a new Minamiza theatre building was built on the site.] |
