Partially rebuilt 1892 by Backhouse and Laidley. 1905 interior alterations (over 1300 seats). Used for drama performances, for almost 50 years as Sydney's major intimate playhouse. Closed 13 July 1935. Subsequently demolished to make way for the widening of Park Street. The Criterion Hotel now occupies what remained of the site. |
