Cinema, built by Henry Eli White. Opened 1927 as "Palais Pictures". Renamed "Palais Theatre" in the 1950s, as it was increasingly used as a live music and show venue. Also used for opera and ballet performances and as home to the Melbourne Film Festival (1962-1982). 2896 seats.
