Country: United States of America State: Georgia City: Savannah Location: 32 Abercorn Street Cinema, built 1921 by Claude K. Howell for businessman Arthur Lucas. Opened 26 Dec 1921. 1700 seats. 1969 rebuilding. Closed 1976. Later used as a comedy club and restaurant. 1986 saved from demolition by a citizens' group who bought the building and renovated it. Re-opened 2000. The original 1925 Wurlitzer organ was reinstalled in 2023. Operated by the Savannah College of Art and Design. Used as a cinema, music venue and live theatre.
