Semi-open-air theatre, built 1968 by McHugh and Kidder, replacing a former theatre on the site (opened 1957, destroyed by fire in 1967). Opened 26 June 1968 with Puccini's "Madama Butterfly". Used by the Santa Fe Opera summer festival. 1889 seats. Closed 1997. Auditorium demolished and replaced by a new theatre (opened 1998), with the stage and backstage areas remaining.
