[First theatre in the area built 1894 as a schoolhouse at Bailey Road, 1903 translocated to Periwinkle Way. Closed 1964. Opened 1991 as "Pirate Playhouse", a larger replacement of the theatre of that name located nearby at the time. 180 seats. Later renamed "Herb Strauss Schoolhouse Theater" and "BIG ARTS Strauss Theatre". Operated by BIG ARTS (Barrier Island Group For the Arts).
