Opened 1905 as "Hill Opera House". Destroyed by fire in the early 1920s, subsequently restored and re-opened 1925 as a cinema. 1935 renamed "California Theater". Damaged by fire on 5 Aug 1957, subsequently restored and re-opend as "Showcase Theater". Used as a cinema and as a live music venue. 1982 renamed "Phoenix Theater". 1989 renovations after damage by an earthquake. Since the late 1990s operated by the non-profit organization "Petaluma Phoenix Center".
