Opened 24 Mar 1913. Later operated by the Keith-Albee circuit. Used for vaudeville shows. 1930-1957 also used as a cinema, 1957-1965 exclusively used as a cinema. 1965 purchased by the Nederlanders Organization. Rebuiling and re-conversion to a theatre proper by Ralph Alswang. Ca. 1988 major exterior rebuilding, incorporating the theatre in the new skyscraper "Embassy Suites Hotel"; auditorium rebuilding by Fox & Fowle. Used for musical performances, e. g. J. Herman's "La Cage aux Folles" (1761 performances), Cy Coleman's "The Will Rogers Follies" (981 performances), or Elton John's "Aida". 1736 seats. Notable world premieres:
