Built 1942 as a cinema by Simon B. Zelnik. Opened 1942 as "Elgin Theatre". 600 seats. Later renamed "Elgin Cinema". Closed 1978. 1982 converted into a live theatre by Hugh Hardy. Re-opened as "Joyce Theater", named after the daughter of a donor. 472 seats. Used for dance performances.
