Whittlesey as "Temple Auditorium", replacing the former "Hazard's Pavilion" (opened 1887, demolished 1906). Opened 7 Nov 1906 with Giuseppe Verdi's "Aida". Ca. 1910 renamed "Clune's Auditorium", also known as "Clune's Theatre Beautiful". 1920-1963 home to the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
