Multi-purpose hall and theatre complex, built 1936-1937 by Alfred C. Finn, replacing a former wooden "Sam Houston Hall" (1928-1936). Opened Nov 1937. Demolished 1998 in favour of the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts.

The clear exposition space is 9.000 feet larger than a square city block. Seating capacity on main floor, 12,000; encircling the main auditorium is a balcony with seating capacity for 5,500, making a total Coliseum seating capacity of 17.5000. Music Hall seating capacity, 2,700."
