Walcker pipe organ of 1863 put in storage in 1884 (and re-erected later at Methuen Memorial Music Hall). Home to the Boston Symphony Orchestra until 1900. 1900 converted into a vaudeville theatre. 1906 renamed "Orpheum Theatre". 1916 rebuilding by Thomas W. Lamb, re-opened as "Loew's Orpheum Theatre". Used as a cinema until 1971. 1971 reopened as a music venue named "Aquarius". Later again renamed "Orpheum Theatre". Used as a rock music venue. 2700 seats. |
