Built by John Cecil Clavering. Opened 28 Mar 1936 as "Odeon Cinema". 1711 seats. Closed 1988. 1993-1996 rebuilt and adapted for the drama company founded by director Stephen Joseph in 1955. Reopened 30 April 1996. The theatre contains two halls: "The Round" (theatre in the round, 404 seats) and "The McCarthy" (theatre and cinema, 165 seats).
