Named in honour of the painter, L S Lowry (1887-1976). Opened 28 April 2000. The building contains two theatres: Lyric Theatre (1730 seats) and Quays Theatre (466 seats). Used for drama, opera, ballet, dance, musicals, children's shows, popular music, jazz, folk and comedy.
