Opened 17 Aug 1903 as a variety theatre. Closed 26 Sep 1953. 1953-1991 used as a TV studio theatre ("BBC Television Theatre"). 1993-1994 major renovations. Reopened Feb 1994 as a music venue, again named "Shepherd's Bush Empire". Later officially renamed "O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire" after a sponsor.
