Cinema and live theatre, built 1926 by Frank T. Verity for Paramount Pictures. Opened 1 March 1926 as "Plaza Theatre". Originally 1896 seats. Closed 1967. Interior demolished, re-opened 1968 as a two-screen cinema (820 and 972 seats). 1972 renamed "Universal", 1975 renamed "Plaza 1 & 2". 1977 again rebuilt as a four-screen cinema. Closed 2001. Interior demolished. Re-opened Sep 2004 as "Apollo Cinemas West End" with five basement cinema halls (481 seats in total), a supermarket on the ground floor and office space in the upper stories. 2013 renamed "Vue Piccadilly".
