London: Globe Theatre (1912) |
Country: England, United Kingdom City: London Borough: Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea Location: Earls Court Exhibition Centre Built 1912 by Edward Lutgers for the "Shakespeare's England" exhibition at Earls Court, as a half-size replica of the "Globe Theatre" (1614). As one of the earliest attempts to reconstruct an Elizabethan theatre, the building was highly appraised at the time. It was, however, not big enough to be used as a venue for regular theatre performances. |
