Performing arts complex, built by Chamberlin, Powell and Bon. Opened 1982. The complex contains galleries, restaurants, conference and trade exhibitions halls, a library, the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, and several performance venues:

  • Barbican Hall (1.943 seats), concert hall, home to the London Symphony Orchestra and the BBC Symphony Orchestra
  • Barbican Theatre (1.156 seats), home to the Royal Shakespeare Company from 1982 to 2002 and again from 2013, otherwise used by touring productions
  • The Pit (200 seats), a flexible studio theatre
  • Barbican Film (3 cinema halls with 288, 156 and 156 seats)
