First circus building on the site opened 20 Oct 1880 as "Salomonsky Cirk" (after its founder Albert Salomon). 1917 renamed "Pervy Gosudarstvenny Cirk" (First State Circus). Also known as "Cirk na Tsvetnom Bulvare" (Circus on Tsvetnoy Boulevard). Demolished 1985 in favour of a new new circus building (incorporating the old facade).
