Country: Italy (Italia) Region: Umbria City: Foligno Location: Corso Cavour Built 1827 by Pietro Ghinelli, incorporating parts of the Palazzo Gregori that occupied the site. Opened 1 Sep 1827 as "Teatro Apollo" with Gioacchino Rossini's opera "Semiramide". 1891 renovations. Re-opened 1891 as "Teatro Piermarini" in honour of the Foligno-born theatre architect, Giuseppe Piermarini (1734-1808). 478 seats. Destroyed by aerial bombing on 16 May 1944, with only the facade and the foyer remaining. Subsequently rebuilt and mainly used as a cinema (named "Cinema Vittoria").
