Country: Italy (Italia) Region: Emilia-Romagna City: Correggio Location: Corso Camillo Benso Conte di Cavour 9 1653 converted as a theatre from the "Sala Grande" of the palace of Niccolò Postumo, first documented in 1476. 1852-1873 rebuildings. 1863 renamed in honour of the painter Antonio Allegri (1489-1534), also known as Antonio da Correggio. 1880 renamed in honour of the Italian composer, Bonifazio Asioli (1769-1832). 1889 damaged by fire. 1890-1898 reconstruction. 1909 damaged by fire. 1942 converted into a cinema. 1968-1973 reconverted into a theatre. Re-opened 18 Nov 1973. 1991-2002 renovations, during which the theatre was severly damaged by an earthquake on 15 Oct 1995. Re-opened 3 Nov 2002. 499 seats. Links: www.teatroasioli.it, Wikipedia |
