Built 1813-1817 by Eugenio Michitelli. Opend 11 Jaunary 1818 as "Teatro San Ferdinando" with an opening ceremony. First peformance: Gioacchino Rossini's opera "La Cenerentola" a couple of days later. 1861 renamed "Teatro Marrucino" in honour of the Italic tribe of the Marrucini.
