House of culture, built 1955-1957 by Hermann Räder as "Kulturhaus 7. Oktober". Named after the founding date of the GDR (7 Oct 1949). Ca. 1990 renamed "Haus Philharmonie". The building contained two halls: Theatre (690 seats) and Cinema (407 seats). Theatre hall closed 1997 due to safety concerns. 2010 demolished and rebuilt as "Haus der Wirtschaft" (House of the Economy), with only the portico façade and entrance wing remaining.
