Built 1954-1956 by Adolf Abel and Rolf Gutbrod (acoustics consultants: Lothar Cremer, Helmut Müller, and L. Keidel), at the site of the old "Liederhalle" (destroyed in World War II). 1988-1991 extension by a new congress center building by Wolfgang Henning.

  • Beethoven-Saal: Named in honour of the German composer, Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827). Opened 1956. 1992 renovations. Used for symphonic concerts and congresses. 2000 seats.
  • Mozart-Saal: Named in honour of the Austrian composer, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791). Opened 1956. Used for chamber concerts and congresses. 752 seats.
  • Slicher-Saal: Named in honour of the German composer, Friedrich Silcher (1789-1860). Opened 1956. Used for concerts and congresses. 320 seats.
  • Hegel-Saal: Named in honour of the German philosopher, Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel (1770-1831). Opened 1991. Used for concerts and congresses. 1900 seats.
  • Schiller-Saal: Named in honour of the German poet and playwright, Friedrich Schiller (1759-1805). Opened 1991. Used for congresses. 460 seats.
