Built 1929 for Fritz Habbel as a cinema, theatre and multi-purpose event venue. Opened 1 Dec 1929 as "Lichtspiele Schmallenberg" with the silent film "Christus - König der Könige". 1952 modernization. Renovations in the 1960s/1970s and in 1997. Closed 2006. Subsequently converted into a night club (still with a theatre and cinema programme) and renamed "Lichtwerk". 2017 renamed "Habbels - Kulturbühne und Eventlocation" and reopened as a cultural centre and events venue. Main hall with 200 seats, used for cabaret performances and various events. "Kinothek" cinema hall on the former balcony with 8 seats, used for private film screenings.
