Built in the late 19th century as "Zentralhalle", a restaurant with a multi-purpose hall. In the 1950s used as a trade union house of culture. 1956 renamed "Kreiskulturhaus Kurt Bürger" after the German politician, Kurt Bürger (1894-1951). Major interior and exterior rebuilding in the 1980s and in the early 1990s, completely altering the building's appearance. 1990 renamed "Stadthalle". Used for cultural performances and private events. The complex includes a multi-purpose hall (up to 520 seats), the municipal library and the municipal archives.
