Country: Germany (Deutschland) State: Mecklenburg-Vorpommern District: Landkreis Mecklenburgische Seenplatte City: Neubrandenburg Location: Stargarder Straße / An der Marienkirche Medieval brick church, built in the 13th and 14th centuries as "Marienkirche". Damaged and restored in 1614 and 1676. 1823-1841 renovation by Friedrich Wilhelm Buttel. Destroyed by bombs in April 1945, leaving only the exterior walls. From 1975 rebuilding to be used as a concert hall after designs by Josef Walter, stopped around 1990. 1996-2001 converted into a concert hall by Pekka Salminen. Opened as a concert hall on 13 July 2001. 2017 installation of a pipe organ (IV/P 70) by Karl Schuke Berliner Orgelbau and Johannes Klais (Bonn). Home to the Neubrandenburger Philharmonie.
