Country: Germany (Deutschland) State: Bayern City: München Location: Residenz / Hofgarten "Festsaalbau" wing of the Residenz palace built 1832-1842. Destroyed by bombs in 1944. Rebuilt 1951-1953 by Felix Finkbeiner to modern interior designs as a concert hall. Named "Herkulessaal" after a series of 16th-century gobelins on the legend of Hercules (replaced by printed copies in 1993). 1962 installation of a IV/P pipe organ by Steinmeyer. 1270 seats (and 180 standing).
