Built 1903 by Otto Kerwien and Georg Runau as a concert and multi-purpose hall within a gothic revival residential and retail complex. Rebuilding by Rudolph Wilken. 1919 converted into a cinema and re-opened as "Stadthallen-Lichtspiele". Closed 1991 after the discovery of asbestos in the cinema hall. Subsequently major rebuilding. Re-opened 1994 as a seven-screen multiplex cinema named "CineStar Filmpalast Stadthalle".
