The complex originally included two halls, "Großes Haus" and "Kleines Haus". Großes Haus: Opened 2 Jan 1953 with Mozart's "Die Zauberflöte". Also known as "Theater". 1993 officially renamed "Theater Hameln". 687 seats. Mainly used as a guest venue for opera and drama performances by touring companies. Occasionally also used for drama productions by the Theater Hameln company. Also used for concerts by Staatsorchester Braunschweig and for various other events.
