Congress centre and arts centre. First venue built in the 1930s as "Festsaal". Used for official events during the 1936 Winter Olympic Games. 1964 addition of a concert hall "Richard-Strauss-Konzertsaal", named after the German composer, Richard Strauss (1864-1949) who lived and died in Garmisch. 1978 major rebuilding of the original "Festsaal", re-opened as "Kongresshaus". 1987 addition of another tract including the "Kleines Theater" and a studio theatre "Bühne U1".
