Since 1747, used as a theatre, known as "Kurfürstliches Komödienhaus". 1805 renamed "Bergisches Nationaltheater". 1815 renamed "Theater in Düsseldorf", 1818 renamed "Stadttheater Düsseldorf". 1831 interior rebuilding. 1832 façade rebuilding (with a new neoclassical porticus by Anton Schnitzler).
