Country: Germany (Deutschland) State: Berlin City: Berlin Location: Westend, Jafféstraße Multi-purpose hall, built 1935 by Franz Ohrtmann and Fritz Wiemer for the 1936 Olympic Games. Opened 29 Nov 1935 in the presence of Adolf Hitler. Originally used for nazi party rallies, sport events and circus shows (including the first indoor helicopter flight in 1938). Destroyed by bombs on 16 June 1943. Rebuilt in the 1950s. Re-opened 19 Oct 1957. Used for sports events, large pop concerts and shows. Closed 1998. 2001-2009 used as an ice hockey hall. Demolished 2011 in favour of the exhibition hall "CityCube Berlin". Notable world premieres:
