Used for occasional open-air theatre performances in the 18th and 19th centuries. Since the beginning of the 20th century used as an open-air theatre during the annual summer theatre festival "Bad Hersfelder Festspiele". On rainy days, the auditorium can be covered by a convertible tent roof constructed by Frei Otto and P. Stromeyer in 1968. 1636 seats.
