[First theatre on the site built 1869-1872 by Rohart on the site of a former Franciscan Church that was eventually also used as a theatre. Destroyed by a fire in 1883.]

Built 1885-1889 by François Hardion. Opened 23 Nov 1889. 1200 seats. Used for opera performances by the resident company, "Opéra de Tours".
