Country: France Region: Île-de-France Department: Paris City: Paris Location: VIII.; 252, rue du Faubourg-Saint-Honoré [1st "Salle Pleyel" opened 1839 at another site at 22, rue Rochechouart. Demolished 1929.] Concert hall, built 1927 by Gustave Lyon for the piano manufacturer Pleyel et Cie. (3000 seats). Damaged by fire on 28 June 1928, subsequently rebuilt for the bank Crédit Lyonnais (2400 seats). 2002-2006 major renovation and rebuilding by Francois Ceria (1913 seats). Major venue for symphonic concerts in Paris in the 20th century (home to Orchestre de Paris and Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France) until the opening of the Philharmonie de Paris in January 2015. Currently used for non-classical concerts, shows and musicals. Notable world premieres:
