Country: France Region: Île-de-France Department: Paris City: Paris Location: IX.; 4, square de l'Opéra-Louis-Jouvet / 7, rue Boudreau / 24, rue Caumartin Opened as "Éden-Théâtre" in the early 1880s. 1890 renamed "Grand-Théâtre". Closed ca. 1893. 1893 the "Comédie Parisienne" was opened in one of the foyers of the "Éden". 1896 rebuilt by Paul Fouquiau (with the entrance moved from Rue Boudreau to its current site). Re-opened 1896 as "Théâtre de l'Athénée". Later renamed "Théatre de l'Athénée-Louis-Jouvet" in honour of the French actor and theatre director, Louis Jouvet (1887-1951), director of the Athénée from 1934 to 1951. Currently known as "Athénée - Théâtre Louis-Jouvet". Notable world premieres:
