Built as a chapel of the Couvent des Carmes. 1815 converted into a theatre. 1835 bought by the city of Melun ("Théâtre Municipal"). 400 seats. Rebuildings by Jean-Jacques Gilson. Renovations in the late 19th century. Closed 1947. 1960-1963 rebuilt by Gérard Carpentier, with a new façade. Re-opened 5 Oct 1963 as "Centre culturel". As of 2019, closed for restoration.
