Built 1889-1890 as "Tanz- und Theatersaal" within the "Hotel Reden". Ca. 1900 converted into a theatre (2000 seats). Re-opened 6 Oct 1900 with a prologue by Felix Dahn and the dramas "Beckers Geschichte", "In Feindesland", and "Fest der Handwerker" by the "Oberschlesisches Volkstheater" company. In the 1930s, major rebuilding. From 1947, used as a steelworkers' house of culture and community centre. 1978-1985 modernization. Reopened as "Teatr Rozrywki" (entertainment theatre) on 29 Sep 1985. 2006-2008 rebuildings.
