Imperial Theatre, also known as Imperial Garden Theatre. Built by Tamisuke Yokogawa. Opened 1 Mar 1911. Damaged by fire after an earthquake on 1 Sep 1923. Subsequently rebuilt and re-opened in 1924. Used for Western opera, plays and musicals as well as Kabuki performances. 1700 seats. Converted into a cinema in 1955. Demolished 1964 and replaced by a new theatre building (opened 1966).
