Country: United States of America State: Illinois City: Chicago Location: Majestic Building, 22 W. Monroe Street Built 1905 as "Majestic Theatre" by Edmund P. Krause and Cornelius W. Rapp. Opened 1 Jan 1906. Originally used for vaudeville performances and occasionally as a cinema. During the 1920s, operated by the Orpheum vaudeville circuit. 1945 bought by the Shubert Organization and renamed "Shubert Theatre" in memory of Sam Shubert. Subsequently restoration and redecoration. Since then used for musical and drama performances, including touring Broadway shows. 1991 bought by the Nederlander Organization. 2005-2006 scheduled for a major restoration. Re-opened 2006 as "LaSalle Bank Theatre" (after a sponsor who was given naming rights and chose not to incorporate any of the two historical names in the new name), later renamed after other corporate sponsors ("Bank of America Theatre", "PrivateBank Theatre", "CIBC Theatre").
