Opened 8 Nov 1909. 2500 seats (+ 500 standing). Dressing rooms and stage destroyed by a V2 bomb on 12 Jan 1945 during a performance, killing 1 person in the theatre (plus 15 in adjacent buildings) and injuring over 100 others.
