Built 1866 by Edward Solomons as "New Prince of Wales Theatre and Opera House". 1867 minor alterations by C. J. Phipps (installation of gas lighting). 1867 renamed "Royal Alexandra Theatre". 1895 renamed "Alexandra Theatre". 1896 major alterations by Frank Matcham. 1896 renamed "Empire Theatre". Demolished ca. 1925.
