Built 1867 by C. J. Phipps. Opened 14 Oct 1867 as "Theatre Royal". 1884 renamed "Prince's Theatre". Rebuilt 1889 and 1902 by Frank Matcham. 1913 converted into a cinema, from 1915 again used as a live theatre. Destroyed by bombs on 24 Nov 1940.
