Built 1738-1740 Filippo Juvarra and Benedetto Alfieri for King Carlo Emanuele II. Opened 26 Dec 1739 with Francesco Feo's opera "Arsace". 1838, 1905 and 1924 various rebuildings. Capacity: 2500 persons. Destroyed by fire on 8/9 Feb 1936. Remains destroyed by bombs in 1942 and 1943. [1967-1973, a new Teatro Regio was built on the site.]
