Country: Italy (Italia) Region: Emilia-Romagna City: Rimini Location: Piazza Cavour Built 1843-1857 by Luigi Poletti. Opened 16 Aug 1857 with the world premiere of Giuseppe Verdi's opera "Aroldo". Originally named "Teatro Nuovo". 1859 renamed in honour of Vittorio Emanuele II, King of Italy. Destroyed by bombs on 28 Dec 1943. 1947 renamed in honour of the Italian composer and musicologist, Amintore Galli (1845-1919). 1959 remains demolished, leaving only the facade and foyer. 1969-1975 rebuilding as "Sala Ressi", used as a council chamber. 2014-2018 rebuilding as a theatre by Pier Luigi Cervellati. Re-opening scheduled for October 2018. Notable world premieres:
