Country: Germany (Deutschland) State: Nordrhein-Westfalen City: Wuppertal Location: Elberfeld, Johannisberg 40 Concert and multi-purpose event hall, built 1896-1900 by Wilhelm Mäurer and Brüning. Opened 6 July 1900. After World War II, used for opera and operetta performances by the municipal theatre company. 1957 interior alterations, destruction of stucco decoration and demolition of the original pipe organ. 1992-1995 major renovation to the original plans. The complex includes the main hall (1500 seats, III/P 67 rank pipe organ by S. Sauer built in 1996) and three smaller halls. After World War II known as "Stadthalle Wuppertal".
