Built as restaurant "Goldene Weintraube". 1950 converted into a theatre. Opened 1950 as "Landesbühnen Sachsen". 2000-2001 major exterior and interior rebuilding. Re-opened 17 Oct 2001. The complex includes the main theatre (410 seats) and a studio theatre. Used for opera, operetta , musical and drama performances and concerts by the resident companies.
